Children are the pillars of our future and the future of the world. Our world is growing rapidly in the path of artificial intelligence, and with that a huge number of jobs are predicted to be replaced by robots. How should child development happen in an age such as this?

What are the skills that as parents you are supposed to impart to your kids so that they stay relevant in this fast-growing world? You won’t be able to choose their career paths, but there are some skills that you can impart in them, some key entrepreneurial skills, that will help them survive in the world of the future.


1 Resilience

Resilience /rɪˈzɪlɪəns/ (n): the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.

Resilience is a key character of every entrepreneur. Most kids of these days are not able to cope up with failure. They are less patient and want instant gratification. Resilience as a skill can be imparted into kids through various means. For which you should find new and creative ways based on your child’s interests. There are some apps in the market that could help you with the same. A resilient child will learn from his mistakes and ‘grow’ as a person and progress towards his or her goals.

2. Innovation and Creativity

Innovation /ɪnəˈveɪʃ(ə)n/ (noun): the action or process of innovating.

Creativity /ˌkriːeɪˈtɪvɪti/ (noun): the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.

Kids are creative by nature. They are not hindered by a lot of decision biases like adults and are generally open to new possibilities and options. As parents, you should be able to nurture this creativity and enable them to put that creativity into good use and also make sure that they carry on creativity and innovation as a core trait with them as they grow. This will enable them to stand out in the crowd and will make life much more interesting for them as well.

3. Industriousness

Industrious /ɪnˈdʌstrɪəs/ (adjective); diligent and hard-working.

In order to build a strong work ethic in whatever they do, kids should learn the value of good old hard work. As parents impart this idea into them by giving them more independence and responsibility inside the house depending on how old your kid is. In this accord, it is very helpful to walk the talk, when kids see their parents are hard working in general and spend less time on wasteful activities like TV etc.

4. Curiosity

Curiosity /kjʊərɪˈɒsɪti/ (noun): a strong desire to know or learn something.

Curiosity is again a very important trait that most kids possess naturally. Curiosity is one of the single most important trait of mankind that has pushed us further and further. It is this desire to know and learn that has made great minds of our generations. You should encourage kids to have new hobbies and engage in new activities how different they may seem. If they ask a lot of questions, enable them by answering as much as possible by you and if the scope is beyond you, point them in the right direction to satisfy their curious minds.

Raising entrepreneurial children isn’t an easy task. As parents, you shouldn’t choose their career paths for them, but these are some of the skills that they should learn to grow up to be successful people in their lives.
